Skyesports Championship 4.0 Registration Begins

Nov 29, 2022

The world’s top players for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 are headed to India for the Skyesports Championship 4.0 in Mumbai, and registration is officially open. Players can register either as an individual or as a full team. All eyes will be on the Indian Esports circuit in Mumbai in the middle of December as the world’s best compete in CS:GO and Dota 2.

The event is open to players of all skill levels and has a prize pool of $25,000 USD. The finals are to be played in a LAN setting in Mumbai, where the top two teams from both CS:GO and Dota 2 will go head to head for the championship and the majority of the top prize. The event is a solid way to end a good calendar year of 2022 that featured several great tournaments on the circuit, specifically for CS:GO. It’s also a nice added incentive to help boost Esports popularity in India, where it’s already growing pretty heavily.

The prize pool for Dota 2 will be $15,000, and the prize pool for CS:GO will be $10,000. The teams will be comprised mostly of Indian teams that qualified, along with other Asian teams that are invited as well. This is the fourth edition of the tournament, previously held in other areas of Asia. As of right now, there is no exact venue decided for the tournament, but it will be revealed shortly. The venue of choice will in fact be open to a live audience as spectators are a major part of any Esports tournament, and we expect the turnout in Mumbai to be fantastic.

The great news for Esports fans, specifically CS:GO, is that there are a lot of tournaments on the calendar already for 2023, including the first Major of the year in France in May, the BLAST Paris Major. The circuit is looking to replicate its 2022 success in 2023 and remain one of the top Esports categories in the world.

The tournament circuit is holding up surprisingly well given the very difficult global conditions, but it hasn’t really impacted CS:GO tournaments in 2022. There was a bit of an issue at the beginning of the pandemic at the height of the spread of the virus, when several tournaments in mid-to-late 2020 and some in early 2021 had to be rescheduled, but it has bounced back quite well since then and has regained its strength. The tournament in Mumbai in two weeks looks to be a good way to end the year and keep the momentum strong.
