S1mple Targets Elon Musk for Interest in Esports
It’s no secret at this point that not only is Elon Musk currently the richest person in the world, he is also arguably the most talked about, as the spotlight is always on him. With his recent takeover of Twitter, along with the advancements in Tesla and SpaceX, it’s hard to go out anywhere without seeing some piece of news about him. Perhaps that’s exactly why some of the top CS:GO professionals are interested in finding a way to contact him about Esports-related investments.
Oleksandr “S1mple” Kostyliev, widely regarded as the best CS:GO player in the world, certainly understands how powerful Musk is, and decided to take some personal action to shoot his shot at getting Elon’s attention. S1mple responded to Musk on Twitter, of all places, attempting to loosely coerce him into diving into the Esports world.
S1mple’s pitch certainly has some relevance behind it, that’s for sure. Esports has constantly been growing globally and is gaining mainstream attention from angel investors, venture capitalist firms and other large corporations. Bringing someone like Musk aboard would be an absolute game-changer, not just for financial purposes but also since his outreach is so large, that anything he’s attached to has the potential to blow up in terms of popularity and attention.
Granted, Esports isn’t exactly hurting, but having several million extra pairs of eyes on it through Musk’s Twitter page certainly can’t hurt. Not to mention, his pockets are so deep that he could easily probably double or triple the industry by himself if he really wanted to. The real question is whether he enjoys it, or has a vested interest in growing the industry. Regardless, Esports isn’t going to fade out anytime soon, but kudos to S1mple for attempting to use his status and power in the industry and see if Musk will take the bait.
Musk has been a controversial figure despite his overwhelming innovative mind that’s changing society. For this reason, there are definitely some figures in the Esports world that may be against his involvement, even if it would improve the industry for the better. But, as we all know, money talks and he’s got plenty of it. Should he choose to get involved in Esports, there’s essentially nowhere to go but up from here.
In the meantime, it’s simply speculation in hopes that S1mple’s tweet or other relevant Esports news catches his eye and appeals to him. But if there’s anyone in the CS:GO Esports realm that has the power to draw him in, it would be a guy like S1mple. One thing is for sure, Musk is definitely aware of how strong the Esports industry is and how it’s growing. Whether he’s interested or not is a different story, but it’s going to be fun to see how it plays out over the next few months.
